I wanted to thank you for sending me the personal, handwritten “Thank You” note for my recent purchase. Very nice touch! This is my third major purchase in your stores over the past how many years and every time has been a good experience. Your salespeople are generally very knowledgeable about the products and are usually able to find the right solution for my specific needs. This recent example is textbook: I was looking for a basic squat rack that also had a set-up for pull-downs and similar exercises. Scott Guggenberger in your Burnsville store showed me several new options but quickly realized that a recently traded-in Smith machine from Hoist might be the best choice. In addition, he was able to identify a treadmill from Vision that precisely met my desire for quality and warranty but only had basic electronics since I typically don’t use all the extra features. Finally, he was able to put it all together in a package, including a used Olympic set, delivery and set-up, at a price that made sense to me.
The delivery team set-up everything yesterday and I used it last night—worked great! By the way, your deliver process functioned exactly as I was told—a rarity these days. They called me to set-up a time within a couple days of purchase and the delivery crew actually arrived early at my house.
Retail is a tough business, particularly when you’re selling bigger-ticket items in a tough economy. I know because I’ve been following public companies in the consumer/retail sector as a Senior Research Analyst for over 17 years. My primary focus for the past several years has been the Active Lifestyle sector, which is my terminology for companies that make or sell everything from athletic shoes to fitness equipment. I have previously purchased exercise equipment from Sears and Costco and will NEVER do that again. I will be in the market for a new treadmill in the next couple of years, and I know that I will be heading back to your store in St. Louis Park for that purchase. Continue reading
